Introducing: Cerbaiona of Montalcino

Cerbaiona
We are excited to announce our new partnership with Cerbaiona winery, a long-standing icon for Brunello di Montalcino. The estate itself dates back to 1454 and is perched high on the southwestern side of the hill of Montalcino at 450 meters in elevation. Diego Molinari founded the estate in the 1970s after being inspired to pursue his passion for winemaking. After acquiring the Cerbaiona property and planting vineyards with cuttings from Biondi-Santi, Molinari set out to produce a classically-styled Brunello uncompromising in quality.
In 2015, Gary Rieschel took the helm of the famous winery and has further invested in the estate — ensuring that both the vineyard management and work in the cellar remains top-notch. The vineyards are located on predominately galestro soils. Vines are trained in the alberello-style and farmed manually. In the cellar, fermentation follows traditional methods for Sangiovese. The Brunello and Rosso are aged in a combination of large French oak and cement casks, while Grammatica is aged in stainless steel and cement to emphasize freshness.
