Domaine Génot-Boulanger

Guillaume Lavollée
Génot-Boulanger’s wines come exclusively from their own 22 hectares of estate vineyards, spanning all three Burgundy Côtes. Now in the hands of fourth-generation Guillaume and Aude Lavollée, the Meursault-based domaine produces wines from more than 30 appellations. Their commitment to organic farming and biodynamic practices reflect a philosophy of doing the hard work in the vineyard so that minimal intervention is needed in the cellar. Both whites and reds age one year in barrel followed by six months in tank before bottling.
Their Meursault ‘Clos du Cromin’ bottling is a signature wine for the domaine. The Clos du Cromin vineyard sits on the hillside bordering the village of Volnay next door. This 1.42-ha. parcel lies at the foot of the slope in clay-rich soils that were once planted to Pinot Noir. Now, the site yields a generous, yet elegant Chardonnay.
The Savingy-les-Beaune ‘Vieilles Vignes’ is sourced from three parcels from the bottom (Les Saucours), middle (Les Gollardes), and top of the hillside (Les Goudelettes), totaling 0.56 ha.
The plot for Corton-Charlemagne is 0.29 ha. located inside Le Charlemagne, planted in 1940 with a southwest exposure.
Lastly, the Clos de Vougeot is produced from a 0.43 ha. parcel in Les Boudes Basses. The vines were planted in 1986 in this section of Clos de Vougeot with shallow topsoils over calcareous and clay below.
